Brown Bag Sunday

The third Sunday of the month will be Brown Bag Sunday. For years we have supported the Alternative House at Christmas time. It is my hope that we will consider their needs year round. A wish list of items they need all the time is listed further on. We can add to that list seasonal things such as school supplies, mittens, rain hats. We will never know where these houses of shelter are - only that they provide a safe haven for women and children with needs and scars we probably can't even imagine. If we all bring a couple of items each month in a brown bag, we will be reaching out in a profound way.

Wish List

  • Paper goods
  • Toiletries
  • Garbage bags
  • Food certificates
  • Movie passes
  • Diapers
  • Bath towels
  • Twin bed sheets (new only)
  • Women's pajamas, bathrobes, sweat suits (all sizes)
  • New pillows
  • Cell phones

Let us always be mindful of the needs of others.

Missions

One Sunday a month during coffee hour, Equal Exchange products - fair traded coffees, teas, and chocolate products - are sold during coffee hour. Proceeds are directed to the Missions Fund, which is used for the diocese's mission strategy.

101 Dinners for Easter and Christmas

Each year St. Anne provides food for 101 families for Easter and for Christmas. Each family typically receives potatoes, carrots, canned vegetables, bread and a gift certificate for a roast or turkey from the local supermarket. Volunteers do the shopping, and bagging of all the goods. Volunteers also deliver the food to anyone who is unable to pick it up at the church.

Angel Tree

Each year for Christmas, St. Anne's participates in the Angel Tree program of the Middlesex House of Correction. There is an Angel Tree with paper ornaments of boys and girls, each with many different ages on them. Members of St. Anne's choose an ornament, and then buy and wrap a Christmas present for some young boy or girl. The presents are picked up and distributed to prisoners, who are then able to give gifts for their children on Christmas Day.
